Highlight Summary

  • For distributors and manufacturers that want bids, quotes, supplier price requests and emailed orders in one system, Mercura is the better fit.

  • Both are order automation software for distributors and manufacturers: they enter emailed orders into the ERP and explain matching suggestions with a confidence score.

  • Conexiom’s website does not mention supplier price requests; Mercura sends them from the bid.

  • Choose Conexiom for order and invoice automation with editable plain-English rules, a SOC 2 Type II audit and an API-first Headless Platform (early access).

What is Mercura, what is Conexiom?

Mercura is AI software for quote and order automation in technical sales, for distributors and manufacturers. It reads bids, specs and emailed orders (also German GAEB files), matches every line to your item master, requests supplier prices for non-stock lines and writes the approved quote or order into your ERP. Inside sales approves every quote; uncertain lines are flagged, not guessed. How AI differs from classic text recognition here is explained in our article on OCR vs. AI in order entry.

Conexiom describes itself with “Automate orders and invoices with AI that earns your trust on every decision.” Its about page says: “We are modernizing the order process for manufacturers and distributors.” Its products are Conexiom Relay (order inbox) and the Headless Platform (developers).

Can Conexiom create supplier price requests straight from a bid?

Conexiom’s website does not mention supplier price requests. On the supplier side, its solutions page names vendor acknowledgements and AP invoices. For lines you don’t stock, Mercura creates an Excel price request from the bid, sends it from the rep’s mailbox and files the replies on the bid. More on quotes and tenders.

Example (illustrative): In a school bid package, nine non-stock lines go out as one Excel request to two vendors.

Does Conexiom build quotes from bids, or mainly process orders?

Conexiom documents order entry and quote automation. Its FAQ says the service is “designed to transform each quote request format into a single structured quote format (EDI, XML, CSV, etc.)”. Its glossary page on B2B quote automation adds that Conexiom extracts data from RFQs and generates responses “based on customer-specific pricing, product availability, and business rules”, and lists “Automated quote generation and delivery” as a key capability. Its website does not mention PDF quotes with technical attributes, several items per line or a product configurator. Mercura offers all three. How EDI and AI processing of email orders complement each other is covered in our article on EDI vs. AI for orders.

A spec line often needs a main item, mounting kit and mandatory accessory in the right variant; Mercura proposes them together. Emailed orders run on the same platform, as described under order processing.

Both vendors document how they match lines. Conexiom’s August 2025 release notes show “the three most likely matches”, each with “A confidence score” and “The source of the match”, enabled via a Conexiom representative. Mercura’s average match rate is 92% (varies by customer and catalog).

Example (illustrative): In a 40-line engineer’s spec, Mercura adds the mounting kit as a mandatory accessory and flags one line where size and capacity don’t match. Inside sales sends the PDF quote.

Which ERP, API and security facts are documented?

Conexiom documents SAP in part. Its blog names SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA among the ERPs it works with. Its help center, as retrieved on October 27, 2026, covered SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition for sales orders and AP, and SAP Business One for AP invoices only. Conexiom states native integrations with “40+ ERPs”, naming Epicor, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Sage among others.

Mercura’s standard integrations are SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, proALPHA and UniTrade, plus a public REST API, webhooks and SFTP. Details are on the integrations page.

Conexiom documents “SOC 2 Type II audited” and AES-256 encryption at rest; its website does not mention ISO/IEC 27001 or its hosting location. Mercura is ISO/IEC 27001 certified, hosted in Europe with a separate tenant per customer, with Entra ID SSO and SCIM. Ask both vendors for the reports your policy requires.

Choose Conexiom if …

  • you mainly need order and invoice automation, including AP invoice matching and vendor acknowledgements, plus automated responses to RFQs based on customer-specific pricing and availability.

  • you want “plain-English rules your team can read, edit and lock”.

  • your security review asks for a SOC 2 Type II audit.

  • you want to embed order automation in your portals or AI agents via REST API, SDKs and an MCP server (early access).

  • you run Epicor Eclipse or Prophet 21, which Conexiom names for ERP-ready data.

Choose Mercura if …

  • you want one platform for bids and quotes, supplier price requests and order entry, for example in electrical or plumbing and HVAC wholesale, or as one of the building-services manufacturers.

  • your spec lines need several items and accessories, competitor cross-references or variant selection.

  • you need ISO/IEC 27001, hosting in Europe, or Entra ID SSO with SCIM.

  • you want to test on your own data, usually within 2 working days.

At the plumbing and HVAC distributor Sanitär-Heinze, a quote takes 2 hours instead of 2 days. Read the Sanitär-Heinze story.
