FAQ
Questions about GAEB files.
GAEB is the German standard for exchanging bills of quantities in construction. Tenders usually arrive as GAEB DA XML files: an .x83 file asks for a quotation, an .x84 file is the quotation with prices.
The number is the exchange phase: 81 is the bill of quantities, 82 the cost estimate, 83 the request for quotation, 84 the quotation with prices, 85 an alternative quotation and 86 the contract award. The letter is the format: X for GAEB DA XML, P for GAEB 2000 and D for GAEB 90.
No. The viewer reads the file in your browser, and nothing from it is sent to Mercura or anyone else. Only if you choose to leave your email address do we receive it, together with the GAEB phase and the number of items.
GAEB DA XML 3.0 to 3.3 (.x81 to .x86), GAEB 2000 (.p81 to .p86) and GAEB 90 (.d81 to .d86), as long as the file contains a bill of quantities. Bids that carry only prices, as many .d84 and .p84 files do, open too and show the prices for every item.
Open the file in the viewer above and choose Excel or CSV. You get one row per item with the item number, short and long text, quantity, unit and prices. For a PDF, save the print view as PDF. The conversion runs in your browser, so the file is not uploaded.
Yes, from GAEB to Excel (.xlsx), CSV and a print view you can save as PDF. It does not convert between GAEB versions, for example from GAEB 90 to GAEB DA XML.
Mercura reads incoming tenders and customer requests, matches every item to the right product in your catalog and writes the quote into your ERP.
