Highlight Summary
Looking for a Tendos alternative? For distributors and manufacturers that want bills of quantities (BoQs), orders and supplier price requests handled in one system and written into the ERP, Mercura is the better fit.
Distributors: Tendos positions itself for manufacturers, per its own website (“100% manufacturer focus”). Mercura serves distributors and manufacturers.
IT: Mercura documents ISO/IEC 27001 (Mercura itself), Entra ID SSO with SCIM, a REST API and SFTP; Tendos names ISO 27001 for its server infrastructure and does not mention a REST API or SFTP.
For manufacturers that want public tender search, sales insights such as hit rates, or configuration parameters for CPQ or SAP KMAT, Tendos is the better fit.
What is Mercura, what is Tendos?
Mercura is AI software for quote and order automation in technical sales, for distributors and manufacturers. Its AI agents read requests, BoQs and orders (email, PDF incl. scans, Excel, Word, photos, drawings, handwritten notes, GAEB), match every line to your own item master, send supplier price requests and write the approved quote or order into your ERP. Uncertain lines are flagged, not guessed. Our guide to the GAEB file format explains the German BoQ exchange standard.
Tendos describes itself as an “AI Platform for Manufacturers in the Construction Industry”. Six modules cover the sales workflow: tenders, inbox, quotes, orders, integrations and insights. Tendos processes BoQs as PDF, GAEB, Excel, email or free text and reads orders from email and PDF. It is run by Tendos GmbH, Munich.

Is Tendos built for distributors too?
Tendos’ website says: “100% manufacturer focus. Every feature exists because manufacturers need it.” Mercura is built for distributors and manufacturers.
Distributors also need features Tendos’ website does not mention: stock vs. order items per location, and branches with their own legal entities and roles. At Mercura, branches, legal entities and roles are standard. Stock per location is configurable, as described for plumbing and HVAC wholesale.
Example (illustrative): A distributor gets a 140-line bill of quantities for radiators and valves. Mercura matches every line to the item master. With stock data set up, the rep sees which lines are in stock at her branch and which are order items.
Can Tendos create supplier price requests straight from a BoQ?
Tendos’ website does not mention supplier price requests or sending them from your own mailbox. Mercura handles this for lines outside your range. It creates the price request straight from the BoQ as GAEB P93 or Excel, sends it from the rep’s own mailbox and files the replies automatically. Manufacturers need this too when a partner supplies some lines. More on quotes and tenders.
Example (illustrative): Mercura matches 78 lines of a 90-line BoQ; the other 12, such as insulation, go out as one Excel request to two partners. Replies land on the record.
Which interfaces and security credentials does Tendos document?
Tendos states that all data resides “exclusively on ISO 27001 certified server infrastructure in Europe”. Its website does not mention a certification of Tendos itself. SSO is named; Microsoft Entra ID and SCIM are not. Its website does not mention a public REST API, webhooks or SFTP.
Mercura itself is ISO/IEC 27001 certified. It also offers Entra ID SSO with SCIM, a public REST API, webhooks and SFTP. Both separate customer data. Tendos says every customer instance is “logically and architecturally completely separated”. Mercura runs a separate tenant per customer, hosted in Europe. See all integrations.
Example (illustrative): IT asks for the vendor’s ISO 27001 certificate, Entra ID user management and a nightly SFTP handover. With Mercura, you check these in the documentation; with Tendos, in a call.
How do Tendos and Mercura handle ETIM, branches and roles?
Tendos’ website does not mention ETIM attributes in matching, or branches, legal entities and roles. Tendos documents that it reads every email and recognizes inquiries, orders and follow-up questions. Routing to a branch or owner is not mentioned. Mercura uses ETIM classes and attributes in matching, supports branches, legal entities and roles, and routes inbound email. More on Mercura for building-services manufacturers.
Example (illustrative): For a ball valve DN 50, PN 40, stainless steel, Mercura compares size, pressure rating and material from the ETIM attributes with the long text and routes the request to the responsible region.
